Banco de Bogotá was the financial entity that introduced the credit card system to the country, entering the market under the name of Credibanco, as a Bank of America concessionaire.
Banco de Bogotá began work on November 15, 1870, as the first financial institution created in the country.
He was also a pioneer in establishing a branch system, opening an office in Girardot (Cundinamarca).
In 1967, Banco de Bogotá went international and opened its first office in Panama City.
Another of the most important milestones in the financial system occurred in 1974, when the entity established an office in New York, an operation that was complemented in 1977 with the creation of the Banco de Bogotá Trust Company, which was later called First Bank of the Americas.
