Netflix will exclusively release the long-awaited sequel to the hit sci-fi movie Code 8. Labeled Code 8: Part II, here’s what you can expect from the new movie and everything else we know.
Starting life as a YouTube short, a full-length movie was released in 2019, but it wasn’t until it hit Netflix in April 2020 that the movie took off, spending more than two weeks in the US top 10 alone.
Building on this new success, a A TV series was commissioned for the now-defunct streaming service Quibi and, of course, a sequel that is the subject of this preview.
No Netflix release date has been set for Code 8: Part II, though it is expected to arrive sometime in 2023.
Netflix announced that it had acquired the sequel to Code 8 in June 2021. Ted Sarandos announced the news as part of his keynote session at the Banff World Media Festival, marking the first Canadian English-language Netflix original acquisition.
XYZ movies are behind the sequel and also serves as the producer/distributor behind Netflix I came for Y Havoc, scheduled for release in 2023.
Canadian production company Collective Pictures is behind the film, which is the production company run by Jeff Chan. Playfight visual effects is working on the VFX titles.
Chris Pare, Jeff Chan, Sherren LeeY Jesse LaVercombe serve as writers on the sequel.

The main synopsis for the sequel was given during the initial announcement:
After witnessing the murder of her brother and the subsequent cover-up, a teenager with abnormal abilities seeks the help of an ex-con (Robbie Amell) and his ex-accomplice (Stephen Amell). Together, they take on a unit of corrupt cops deploying advanced robotic technology to avoid exposure.»
A slightly different synopsis has since been provided:
“A teenage girl, fighting to get justice for her brother murdered by corrupt cops, becomes a target and enlists the help of an ex-convict and his ex-accomplice. Together, they take on a highly respected and well-protected police sergeant who will use every tool to avoid being exposed.»

Where did the filming take place? Code 8: Part II And when did production start and end?
Following its initial announcement, production on the film took place over the course of two months between October and December 2022.
By The specification the title filmed a large part in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in November 2021, saying:
“Code 8: Part II” was seen filming on West Mountain, near West 5th Street and Fennell Avenue West.
He had a base camp set up last week in a Stelco parking lot at Gage Avenue North and Burlington Street East. He was likely filming scenes at the Skylight Steelworks, a joint art and film site between the US-based Skylight and Stelco studios on Wilcox Street at the Hilton Works.”
Robbie Amell posted on Instagram when production had started and the jokes turned to the weather, saying, «Hopefully Part 3 will be warmer.»
In August 2022, Robbie Amell posted that they had just screened the movie (they showed an early form of the movie to a small audience to get them to react, etc.). saying in the caption:
“Our first screening of Code 8 Part II — the movie looks fabulous. Rob and I brought our moms…both stayed up.
