Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout has dealt with injuries multiple times throughout his career. This week, a fractured hamate bone became the latest injury to sideline the outfielder.

On Tuesday, the Angles announced that Trout was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a wrist injury he suffered in Monday’s game while fouling a pitch in the eighth inning.

Los Angeles lost the first game of the three-game series to the San Diego Padres.

Trout immediately began flailing his left arm after the ball hit him. The three-time AL MVP called for help after returning to the batter’s box.

Los Angeles manager Phil Nevin and a coach went to check on Trout, and Trout left the game.

«I just took a swing and it felt kind of uncomfortable,» Trout told reporters after Monday’s game. «I can’t describe the pain I felt. I never felt it before, never, before this. I never had a wrist problem or anything. Just weird stuff.»

Trout, an 11-time MLB All-Star, had a productive game Monday. He had two hits, including an RBI single, and also drew a walk. He is hitting .263 with 18 home runs and 44 RBIs in 81 games this season.

Trout had managed to stay healthy all season before Monday’s game.

Jo Adell will probably be the next man for the Angels.

«We’ve talked all the time about our depth,» Angels manager Phil Nevin said via MLB.com. «It’s been tested, and we’ve even added to it. We’ve lost some big pieces. We’ve talked about what the next one looks like.

«Same here: give somebody a chance to get more looks and get more at-bats based on Mike’s test result. Then we’ll see how it goes.»
