Investigators from the Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office were looking for seven young call center workers when they made the gruesome discovery in a 40-meter-deep ravine, according to a report. statement.

The call center workers disappeared last week from the Jardines Vallarta and La Estancia neighborhoods in Jalisco.

The State Attorney’s Office continues to search for the call center employees, as it is unclear if the remains belong to them.

The Police went to the Mirador del Bosque ravine in the city of Zapopan on Tuesday afternoon after receiving information about possible indications related to the missing persons. A black plastic bag containing human remains was found, prompting a search effort.

The Jalisco Forensic Medical Service is working to identify the remains and determine how many bodies were found and the cause of death.

Jalisco has been plagued by violence in recent years, especially at the hands of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG).

In 2020, the US Department of Justice announced more than 750 arrests following a six-month investigation targeting the Mexican drug cartel.

“CJNG has contributed to a catastrophic wake of human and physical destruction in Mexico,” Assistant Attorney General Brian Benczowski said at the time. “It is the best armed cartel in Mexico. Its members willingly take on rival cartels and even Mexican government security forces. The CJNG is responsible for horrifying acts of violence and loss of life.»
