Since the start of Super Bowl LVII, players from both teams have had trouble staying upright on the new turf surface at State Farm Stadium.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts changed his cleats between the first and second quarters, and many cleats were found along a sideline at halftime. On the final play of the game, a Hail Mary, Hurts slipped and deflected the pass for several yards.

Even Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco slipped in the end zone just before starting to celebrate a touchdown.

The turf was at Oklahoma State University and the United States Golf Association provided funding and research.

However, it seems pretty clear that the grass didn’t do its job, as players were sliding from left to right.

The poor conditions sent fans, media, and former NFL players into an uproar.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni didn’t seem happy with the field conditions, but he didn’t blame his team’s loss.

«We both had to play on that grass,» he said after the game, via 94 WIP Radio.

Teams have taken steps to improve their playing surfaces so that fewer injuries occur, and players have called for fixes to many playing surfaces.
