Wallace, who has four European Tour wins and one Asian Tour win, was looking to move up the leader board and be in position to catch eventual winner Taylor Moore and other contenders such as Jordan Spieth and Tommy Fleetwood. However, things went wrong on the 18th.

The English golfer was seen going back and forth with his caddy Sam Bernard and the NBC broadcast appeared to show Wallace telling Bernard to «shut the fuck up and stop trying to get involved.»
The discussion seemed to stem from what to do with a shot after Wallace closed to within 30 yards of the hole, according to Golf.com. The two seemed to reconcile after the heated moment.

«I can confirm that the partnership is fine,» NBC’s Cara Banks said. «They’ll get back together tomorrow. Matt was just frustrated after his bogey at 17 and hitting that errant drive at 18. He was frustrated that Sam questioned whether or not he should drop before the second shot.
«He felt like he should just play like he lies, like he did, and Sam questioning him interfered with his flow.»
