Less than a year after PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said any potential truce with rival Saudi-backed LIV Golf tour was «off the table,» a historic merger between the two entities has formed.

«After two years of disruptions and distractions, this is a historic day for the game we all know and love,» PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan said in a news release.

«This transformative partnership recognizes the immeasurable strength of the PGA TOUR’s history, legacy and pro-competitive model and combines with it the DP World Tour and LIV, including the concept of team golf, to create an organization that will benefit players from golf, commercial and charitable partners and fans Moving forward, fans can rest assured that collectively we will deliver on the promise we have always made: to promote competition from the best in professional golf and that we are committed to securing and advancing the future of the game.»
