There are still a number of players on the open market with NFL training camps starting soon this month, and one of them is wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
Hopkins is among the players fans are surprised they haven’t signed yet, though ESPN reported it’s on his own initiative.
The New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans had official visits with Hopkins recently, and the outlet reported Sunday that both teams made an offer to the 31-year-old who was released from the Arizona Cardinals.

Tennessee is said to be the «most aggressive» team in terms of wanting to sign the All-Pro receiver.
However, Hopkins doesn’t appear to be satisfied with what the Titans and Patriots have brought to the table and is reportedly hoping another team will get involved.
The Cleveland Browns were rumored to be a destination, as Hopkins and his former Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson could team up again. But the Browns appear to be out of Hopkins heading into the 2023 season.
NFL CONTENDER APPEARS TO BE OUT IN DEANDRE HOPKINS DRAWING
With the way the New York Jets look for a playoff spot this season, they were also rumored to be in the conversation for Hopkins. However, head coach Robert Saleh said earlier this offseason that he is simply looking forward to the players already in the room, as Allen Lazard, Mecole Hardman and Randall Cobb signed with Gang Green to partner Garrett. Wilson, Corey Davis, and Denzel Mims.
The Cardinals tried to trade Hopkins before releasing him, but his $30.7 million salary cap for next season was a deal breaker. He, too, had a $26.2 million hit for the 2024 campaign.

When he was released, it appeared that Hopkins didn’t receive an offer from either the Patriots or the Titans that could match that amount of dollars.
We’ve seen time and time again players join organizations even though training camp is underway, whether it’s because of depth chart injuries or a realization from the front office that more impact is needed at a position.
Hopkins had 717 yards and three touchdowns in the nine games he was able to play with the Cardinals last season (he had to deal with a six-game suspension for PED to start the year), which still makes him a threat whenever he’s out. line up in practice.
Hopkins hopes to find a team that can make the playoffs and give him a shot at a Super Bowl ring, which has alluded to him thus far in his career.
