Judge Jhon Jairo Romero of Riosucio, Caldas, admitted for study a guardianship action for the alleged violation of fundamental rights to due process and prior consultation in the selection process of the shortlist of candidates for the management of the National Federation of Coffee Growers to replace Roberto Vélez.

The guardianship was established by Javier Delgado Bañol and Antonio de Jesús Guevara, who want the National Committee of Coffee Growers and the Ministry of the Interior to carry out a prior consultation with the Embera Chamí community of the Escopetera y Pirza reservation to expose the criteria and profiles that the applicants to make up the Fedecafé shortlist do not have.

The guardianship action is against the National Committee of Coffee Growers, the National Federation of Coffee Growers, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Commerce.

This would start from scratch again in the manager selection process. This is scheduled to conclude on April 27 when the representatives of the Departmental Committees of Coffee Growers select one of the 3 candidates in an extraordinary congress: German Bahamon, Sandra Morelli and Santiago Pardo.

The three have already completed a national tour of the country’s 15 departmental committees to present to the union representatives the main proposals and initiatives that would drive them to become elected general manager of the FNC.

The tour began in Risaralda and Caldas, and continued, in that order, through Quindío, Valle del Cauca, Norte de Santander, Boyacá, Cauca, Cundinamarca, Santander, Cesar-La Guajira, Magdalena, Nariño, Huila, Tolima and culminated in Antioquia. .

In these meetings, topics such as union unity, gender equality, generational splicing, scientific and technological development (Cenicafé), innovation, the conquest of new markets with high-quality coffees, the promotion of the renewal of coffee plantations were addressed. , the control of expenses, the promotion of coffee as a national drink, the strengthening of the companies of the union and the harmonious work with the national Government.
