PGA Tour golfer Scott Stallings has only played in two Masters tournaments and his potential to play in a third was nearly derailed by a mail mishap.

Stallings, who finished tied for 27th at the 2012 Masters, shared on social media that he was looking for the invite «five times a day» when he received an unexpected message.

«Hi Scott. My name is also Scott Stallings and I’m from GA. My wife’s name is also Jennifer! Her IG is [redacted]. We have a condo in [redacted] and today I received a FedEx from the Masters inviting me to play in the Master’s (sic) Tournament April 6-9, 2023. I am (100%) sure this is NOT for me. I play but wow!» the message read. «Nowhere near your level. It’s a very nice package complete with everything you need to attend. I think we have some confusion about our names, our wife’s names and geographic location. I can be contacted at [redacted] and I am more than happy to finish this package for you.»

Images in the message showed the invitation and a letter from a Georgia-based event official.

The golf world was elated by the random fluke.
