ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith is calling on Democrats to field a better candidate for the 2024 presidential election, arguing that 80-year-old President Joe Biden should not be re-elected.

During Friday’s episode of «The Stephen A. Smith Show,» the ESPN host reflected on Biden’s downfall during the Air Force Academy Graduation Ceremony on Thursday when he tripped over a sandbag.

«Just my personal opinion, that’s all. Take it for what it’s worth. Someone has to say it, so I’m going to say it. We need a new president in 2024. We need a new president,» Smith said. .

«Let me be very, very clear about where I’m going with this. That could happen to anyone. It’s not a big deal. I’ve tripped and broken my butt multiple times, sometimes running up the stairs. It happens. It’s not the end of the world It’s not evidence that he’s not quite there. But he’s 80. He’ll be 81 at the end of his term, approaching 82.»

Smith, who said that voted for Biden in the previous election, he went on to explain that he «is not asking to be removed from office» but is looking for a new candidate for the Democrats.

«Not trying to get involved in any kind of ageism, because I don’t believe in that. There comes a time when there are certain jobs that you don’t need. It’s not that you don’t need to be working, it’s not that you don’t need to live your life, It’s not that you don’t need to live a very vibrant lifestyle or something, but there are responsibilities that are much, much, much more extensive than a typical 9 to 5 shift that an 80 year old may not need to do. that the presidency is one of them».

He continued: «But this is one of my main reasons, and again, forget about Biden for a second because this is not disrespectful to him. What does it say about our country where we’re looking at an 80-year-old man, what? He will be 82 years old if he wins the presidency again in 2024. What does it say about our country if that is what we depend on?

Smith went on to fire several of the top Democratic Party candidates, including marianne williamsonwho previously ran for the Democratic nomination in 2020, and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

«I mean, for the Democrats, you guys have no one? No one?!»

Instead, he offered a candidate he called «unbeatable.»

«Michelle Obama. She would win by a landslide,» Smith said, noting that the former first lady would probably never run for president. She also mentioned a possible third run for Hillary Clinton and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, DN.Y.

Smith, who has admitted to being «socially liberal» and «fiscally conservative,» even offered Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger as a possible candidate.

«I think Bob Iger is the best I’ve ever seen. I just do. He’s never going to run, I mean, he’s living his life running Disney.»

Smith turned around, doubling down that calling for a change had more to do with Biden’s age than his abilities as president.

«I just don’t think an 80-year-old should be running the country.»
