New York Yankees starter Domingo Germán was ejected from his start Tuesday night against the Toronto Blue Jays after umpires found him using a foreign substance.
German was perfect for three innings, but as he was returning to the mound for the bottom of the fourth inning, the four umpires stopped him to check his hands and gloves for sticky substance.
They clearly didn’t like what they found, as German was sent back to the bench and ejected from the game.

German was previously checked for foreign substances during his Jackie Robinson Day kickoff on April 15, when the referee who checked him gave him a warning and an opportunity to wash his hands clean of any sticky substances he felt on her hands. He caused quite a stir with Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli because warnings are not supposed to be issued.
But German had a mark on him from that start and now, with the same team of referees from that start, they didn’t like what they felt.
New York Mets starter Max Scherzer is currently serving a 10-game suspension for use of a foreign substance, which the German could now receive.

However, Scherzer vehemently defended himself, saying that it was a mixture of sweat and rosin that was making his hand feel sticky. He even washed his hands in front of an MLB official, and his hand was still deemed too sticky.
This ejection comes as Yankees slugger Aaron Judge was suspected of cheating during the team’s victory Monday night in Toronto.
The Blue Jays broadcast caught Judge flicking his eyes to the right during an at-bat, which ultimately resulted in a mammoth 462-foot home run in the top of the eighth inning.

Judge said after the game that he was hearing screeching from his dugout, as manager Aaron Boone was ejected earlier in his at-bat for arguing balls and strikes. He said that he heard his teammates continue to bark at the plate umpire, which is why he was looking that way.
Judge, again, addressed the allegations he was a little more upset about before Tuesday’s game.
«I don’t see why it’s a story to be honest,» he told the New York Daily News.
«If your announcers want to come to an agreement about it, they can say whatever they want,» he continued, adding that he had «chosen words» for what Schulman and Martinez said, but chose not to mention them.

The Blue Jays’ coaching staff has taken issue with where the Yankees’ first and third base coaches have been standing along the foul lines, hinting that Judge was looking at the first base coach. guard Travis Chapman looking for wild pitches, which ESPN reported might have been the case in that at-bat.
That was reflected in Tuesday’s outing as well, when manager John Schneider argued that third base coach Luis Rojas was too far from the coach’s box. The umpires ended up getting involved, and Schneider was seen telling someone in the Yankees dugout, «Shut up, fat man.»
There are still two games to play in this series, so this could continue to be a topic at Rogers Center this week.

The Yankees were fined $100,000 for violating sign theft rules during the 2015 and 2016 seasons, which included using the dugout and playing room phone to broadcast signs.
