Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon will reportedly not be charged after he got into an altercation with a fan in March.
After a 2–1 opening day loss to the lowly Oakland A’s, Rendon was caught on camera grabbing an A’s fan by the jersey and swinging an open hand at the fan’s head.
It’s unclear exactly what sparked the confrontation, but Rendon claimed the fan called him b—-.
The LA Times reports that the case was closed after police investigated misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor battery.

«What did you say? You called me b—-, huh? Yes, you did. Yes, you did. Yes, mother—–,» Rendon told the fan as he grabbed her shirt.
That’s when Rendon released his hold and then tried to swipe the fan’s A’s hat.
Angels teammate Mike Trout watched the war of words, but they all walked away before things got worse.
Rendón was suspended four games for the incident.
«My emotions got the best of me,» Rendón said in April. «I’m usually pretty good at interacting with fans… have fun with that. But gentlemen, we talked on the phone and we both apologized for what had happened. And we’re both ready to move on.»
Since signing a seven-year, $245 million contract with the Angels in 2019, Rendon has struggled to stay on the field due to injuries. He signed his contract after his only All-Star season with the washington nationalswhen he smashed 34 home runs, 44 doubles and home run 126 runs with a .319 average.
